Creative Youth Australia - C-YA!

The Creative Youth Australia (CYA!) program works with disadvantaged youth in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and operates from centres in Preston and the Docklands. CYA! develops skills in fashion through instruction in design, clothing production, and screen printing.

Four courses of a six week duration are run annually for year ten level students. They are taught by experts in the field in conjunction with a youth worker and development officer. This program is an initiative of Father James Grant, and special thanks are due to Madeline Spinoza, of Mad Spin on Greville St for her generous support. Three op shops operate as retailers for clothing produced.
